In-The-Zone Training Calculator Intro Page

  1. Our exclusive In-The-ZoneTM training calculator which will help you clearly and easily identify 7 (seven) key training zones to ensure that you are always working at the appropriate intensity. This calculator is unique in its application in that it draws together documented training intensities and theories* across the 3 disciplines into one easy-to-understand format.

So no longer will you be left scratching your head wondering if you're training too hard, too easy or wondering what intensity or level in swimming equates to the same intensity in cycling or running. Simply input your swim time for 400m and 50m, an average power-output for a 20 minutes time trial on the bike (including heart rate) and a current 5km run P.B and the calculator will do the rest for you! Not only will it work out appropriate training zones that are in the same "language" across the board for swim, cycle and run disciplines, but it will also help you predict how fast you should be able to race at this moment in time, or more importantly, how best to pace yourself for any given effort!

This really does ensure that your time spent training is efficiently managed with full knowledge of exactly how hard or easy you should be going in any given session. At last, piece of mind that you are doing everything correctly!

The full feature-set comprises:

  • Performance Testing Results "Portal" and running event predictor.
  • "At-a-Glance"pace zones for swim, bike & run all coded to the same easy-to-understand format and printable on one side of A4. Your essential trainining "companion"

  • Target Times for running over given distances.
  • A unique 2-part "Galloway Method" calculator which allows the athlete to manually input their run-walk ratio in minutes and determine the required pace for the run phase for either a) goal pace or b) goal time over a pre-determined distance. This method has been proven time and again and is one which The TEAM CORE's coaches regularly use with their athletes to ensure safe and sucessful progression in their training programs and as part of a structured race plan over the long-course events.
  • A guide to the expected performance and physiology adaptations* that you will experience for working at a given intensity. Knowing this, you will be confident that your assigned sessions have a beneficial purpose towards achieving your goals!
  • A Rating of Percieved Exertion table* that equates to the 7 Zones for those without access to a powermeter on the bike or footpod/GPS on the run. If this is you however, seeing the ease of which this calculator will allow you to manage your intensities, we'd say its about high-time you got yourselves sorted with this technology as it really is "the bomb".

*levels have been formulated under the training levels protocol and definition of Andy Coggan Ph.D and incorporating the principles of Critical Swim Speed (Ginn, 1993); Coggan's Power Zones (2006); and Daniel's Tables (Jack Daniel's, 2005).
