Stuart was a former training buddy of Paul's
whilst they both were studying and training at the University
of Bath, UK. Stuart is still based down at the University of
Bath's excellent Sports Training Village facility and is working
closely with Head Swim Coach Kim Swanwick. Stuart has brought
a wealth of knowledge to all six of the UK Swim Smooth Clinics
that he has coached at to date. We are proud to be associated
with Stuart and his passion for triathlon. Here's a little more
about him:
Coach Education and
Sport Science, University of Bath
Exercise Science, Manchester.
UKCC Coach Education
BTA Level 2 Coach (pending)
ASA qualified coach.
Represented Great Britain at World and European
championships as an elite junior athlete. Spent most of his
triathlon career under the guidance of world class coach, Chris
Jones, who inspired him into the coaching field. Has a strong
interest into the field of exercise physiology, which fits with
his belief that coaching practice should be based on sound science,
and would like to undertake a postgraduate research post in
this field in the near future. Currently training towards achieving
his life long ambition of making an elite podium at an Ironman
event and currently scheduled for Ironman France 2008.
Works with a wide range of abilities,
ranging from complete beginners, world age-group triathlon champions
and potential Beijing medalists. First started working with
swimmers as a high school student almost 9 years ago and continues
to work within the University of Bath high performance swim
programme. Has also coached athletics where he has assisted
with world class potential race walkers and marathon runners;
the aim to find some promising juniors who have the potential
to make the 2012 london games!
